Aristeidis Samitas is Professor of Finance and Vice-Rector for Finance and Development at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He is also Director of NKUA’s MSc in Financial Technology (FinTech) and Director of the Laboratory of Investment Decisions (EPEFA). His academic career spans more than two decades of teaching, research, and leadership in higher education. He studied Economics at NKUA, pursued postgraduate studies at the University of Birmingham (Monetary, Banking and Finance), and earned a PhD from NKUA. He conducted postdoctoral research at City, University of London. He has taught at universities in Greece and abroad, including Zayed University, the University of the Aegean, the Hellenic Open University, and the Open University of Cyprus. Professor Samitas’s research focuses on financial analysis, financial crises, risk management, and capital markets, with particular emphasis on how artificial intelligence and machine learning can advance financial science. He has published in journals including the Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Banking & Finance, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions & Money, European Journal of Operational Research, International Review of Financial Analysis, Economic Modelling, Research in International Business and Finance, Annals of Operations Research, Tourism Management Perspectives, and Telecommunications Policy. He is an invited speaker at major conferences and institutions and currently serves as a reviewer for international academic journals. He has also contributed to the translation and editing of leading finance textbooks, connecting rigorous scholarship with real-world relevance in the era of the digital economy.
