Dr. Bengü Özge Şerifoğlu is an Expert at the European Environment Agency (EEA), specializing in climate change adaptation, risk and resilience. Her current work focuses on climate-resilient agriculture and food security, where she leads the development of data-driven approaches, with particular emphasis on how climate extremes affect agri-food systems, economic stability and socio-economic outcomes across Europe.
She was the lead author of the “Managing Climate Risks to the Economy” briefing in the State and Outlook of Europe’s Environment 2025 (SOER 2025) report.
Dr. Şerifoğlu holds a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of California, San Diego, where her research focused on solar energy and atmospheric modelling. Her interdisciplinary background bridges climate science, data analytics and policy, advancing evidence-based resilience strategies for Europe’s agriculture and economy.
