Dr. Kittas is an Agronomist, Civil Engineer and Mechanical Engineer. PhD (Docteur Ingénieur) of the University of Perpignan, France. Dr Dozent (Habilitation) in Agro-meteorology of the University of Patras, Greece. MSc in “Solar Energy” of the University of Perpignan, France. D.E.A. in “Thermodynamique et Cinétique à hautes temperatures” of the University of Perpignan, France. MSc in Meteorology of the Faculty of Sciences of the University of Athens, Greece.

Former Director of the Laboratory of Agricultural Constructions and Environmental Control of the Department of Agriculture Crop Production and Rural Environment of the School of Agricultural Sciences of University of Thessaly. Former Director of the Institute for Technology & Management of Agricultural Ecosystems of the Centre for Research & Technology-Thessaly (CERETETH).

Regular member of the Greek Agricultural Academy. He has more than 35 years of experience in Academic Education in the field of Agricultural Engineering, bio-climatology, environmental control of agricultural buildings, greenhouse technologies and renewable energy sources. He, also, has notable research experience in greenhouse design, microclimate control of agricultural buildings, irrigation of crops under cover, simulation and modelling of greenhouse ecosystem. He has more than 180 publications in peer-review international journals, more than 300 papers in international and national conference proceedings, while his published work has more than 3500 citations. Dr Kittas also has significant experience in research projects, having coordinated and participated in more than 60 National and European research projects.
