Dr. Dimitrios Stavridis is an agronomist – entomologist, Director General of Agricultural Economy and Veterinary Services in the Region of Thessaly. He has worked in research programs at the Department of Agriculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and at the Plant Protection Department of the National Agricultural Research Foundation (NAGREF) in Thessaloniki. He has taught for a number of years in the Department of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH), in the Departments of Plant Production of T.E.I. Thessaloniki and Larissa as well as in the Veterinary School of the University of Thessaly.
He is the coordinator of research programs as well as Groups of scientists on agricultural issues including the Drafting Group of the Integrated Plant Protection Guide for cotton. He has held a large number of lectures at Scientific Meetings, and young farmers and producers’ trainings. He has a rich written work with publications of numerous research papers and scientific articles in Greek and international journals and has participated with presentations of his scientific works in Greek and International Conferences.
Geert Wilms studied Horticulture at Wageningen University and Business Administration at Open University. For more than 20 years Geert has been director of Agricultural Innovation Brabant (LIB), and he is consultant at Royal Haskoning DHV.
LIB is a partnership of Province North-Brabant and farmers organization ZLTO. Each year more than 30 innovative projects are initiated and supported, with the participation of hundreds of (agricultural) businesses. Several workshops are organized and guided. Geert is directly accountable to the President of ZLTO and regional Minister of agriculture in North-Brabant. One project he started and is very proud of: “Smart irrigation in agriculture; 3.000 farmers participating with 60.000 hectares, and 25% gain of efficiency in water use”.
Geert Wilms also is a speaker, discussion leader and initiator of cooperation in different regions in Europe. He is/was involved in more than 15 European funded projects, for example Water management, Water conservation, Agrispin, Eurodairy, EU-PIG and STRING.
Dr. Gemtos is Emeritus Professor of the University of Thessaly. He is a graduate of the Department of Agriculture, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and holds PhD in Farm Mechanization from the University of Reading UK.
He is member at Geotechnical Chamber of Greece, the Hellenic Society of Agricultural Engineers, the European Society of Agricultural Engineers, the American Society of Agricultural Engineers, the Canadian Society of Agricultural Engineers, and the Greek and European Conservation Agriculture societies.
His teaching experience focuses on farm mechanization, energy in Agriculture and precision agriculture.
He has participated in more than 27 researches, has supervised 8 PhD theses, has published more than 60 papers in peer reviewed journals and 200 papers in national and international conferences. He has additionally organized 2 international and several national conferences.
