Dr. Psaltopoulos is Professor in Development Economics at the Department of Economics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. His main research interests include agricultural and rural development policy analysis and evaluation, development economics and policy, and quantitative methods.

Since 2016 he has been working with Agricultural Global Practice, World Bank as a Senior Economist, engaged in various diagnostic analyses in the Western Balkans, Croatia and Greece. His research work has been published in numerous high-ranked international journals and presented in more than 70 international conferences. He has coordinated several consultations with agricultural and rural stakeholders and has published numerous agricultural and development policy analysis reports and studies. Also, he has coordinated and participated as team leader and researcher in many international research projects, mostly associated with agricultural and rural policy analysis and development policy analysis. He has been engaged in various research projects of the OECD and the CEC. Finally, for a period of 6 years (2005-2011) he served as an elected member of the Executive Board of the European Association of Agricultural Economists (EAAE).
