Dr. Efstratios Nikolaou

Dr. Efstratios N. Nikolaou was born in Kavala in 1973. He graduated from the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1998, specializing in Food Science and Technology. He completed postgraduate studies with a scholarship at the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and Executive MBA at the International University of Greece. In 2008 he was awarded a doctorate in philosophy from the School of Agriculture of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and subject of dissertation: wine microbiology. In 2009, he started working as an inspector-auditor at ELOGAK (formerly ELOG), while since June 2017 he has assumed the duties of Head of the Milk and Meat Control Management Department, of the General Directorate of Quality Assurance of Greek Agricultural Products, with the object of coordinating and supporting the operation of the Departments of Inspections and Controls – Milk and Meat Surveillance and the Milk Quality Control Laboratories. In the framework of his professional activity he has participated in research programs, worked as a research associate at the TEI of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace, Department of Oenology and Beverage Technology and is an instructor-lecturer in vocational training seminars. He is married to Chryssa Kargiotou and is a father of two children, Nikolas and Krystallia.

Mr. Sotiris Yiannakopoulos

He was born on 28-6-1962 and studied economics (Higher Industrial) in Thessaloniki and did his MBA in EEDE.

He has been active in the food processing sector since 1988 and has been a member of the Chamber’s Administration since 1997.

He was President from 2010 until 2014, when he handed over the Presidency to the First Vice President Mr. Dimitris Adam.

In the last elections of the Chamber of Larissa (December 2018) he was re-elected as President.

Mr. Dimitris Michaelides

Dimitris is publisher of the electronic newsletter AgroNea and associate journalist at AgrOrama (informal structure of farmers-producers of branded products), at Skywalker (Entrepreneurship Paths), at the newspapers STENTORAS, Agrenda, and RURAL expression.

He has experience in Management of Technical Projects, Procurement Management, HR Management, Training and Learning Management, Study Visit Management, and Public Relations Management. He has participated in expeditions for rural issues in 35 countries, and has worked as a consultant in local development projects, as Lifelong Learning projects manager, as an HR manager, as a College Teacher, and as a contractor of large technical projects for the private sector.

Today he is conducting large number of presentations in topics like: Local Community Growth, Rural Development, Social Economy, Social Cooperative Businesses, Entrepreneurship, Youth or Women Entrepreneurship, etc.

Dimitris is assisting voluntarily following organizations: Former Boy Scouts of Thermi, Network of Volunteer Organizations of Thessaloniki, Young Farmer’s Unions, Observatory of Civil Society Organizations, “PROSKALO” Cooperation Initiative for the Social and Solidarity Economy, Attika Livestock Breeder’s Association, and other Cooperatives.

Dr. Dimitrios Savvas

Dr. Dimitrios Savvas is a Professor of Vegetable Production at the Agricultural University of Athens (AUA). Prof. Savvas was awarded a Diploma in Agriculture from AUA in 1985 and a Ph.D. degree from the University of Bonn, Germany, in 1992. Since 2006 he is a Professor in AUA.

He specializes in vegetable production emphasizing on plant nutrition, water management, and greenhouse crops. He has published over 100 papers in refereed international scientific journals (h-index=26) and many other papers in congress proceedings and as book chapters.

He is a member of the Editorial Board in five international Scientific Journals with I.F. In the last 5 years, in addition to several national research projects, he coordinated the AUA team in the European research projects LEGUME FUTURES (FP7), EUROLEGUME (FP7), TOMRES (HORIZON2020), TRUE (HORIZON2020) and VEGADAPT (PRIMA 2018). Since September 2019 he is the Dean of the Faculty of Plant Sciences in AUA.

Mr. Aristotelis Basdanis

Born in Volos on 15th April 1962. Married and father of 3 children. Graduated with excellence from the University of Trieste, Italy as DOTTORE IN SCIENZE POLITICHE (INDIRIZZO POLITICO – ECONOMICO). Military service in the island of Chios. The last 25 years owns a food enterprise.

Mr. Costas Goumas

Costas Goumas graduated from the Higher Agricultural School of Athens in 1971. In 1975 was appointed to the Land Reclamation Service of Larissa. He served as Director (1990-1994 & 2004 – 2008); who upon retirement was appointed as special advisor to the Prefecture of Larissa for water issues (2008-2010).

He served as Secretary General of the Association of Agronomists of Larissa (1986-1987), Member of the Council of the Prefecture (representative to GEOTEE) of Larissa (1987-1993), Presdeint at GEOTEE Central Greece (1995-1997) and Secretary General to the Panthessaly Coordinating Committee (PASE) for the diversion of the upper stream of Acheloos River (1995 – 2007).

He participated in the Scientific Committee for Water Resources Management (GEOTEE / CG) on issues of Thessalian interest (Smokovo Dam, Karla Reservoir, protection of water resources of Thessaly) and in the Scientific Committee of Thessaly Union of local authorities for the Revision of Thessaly Water Management Plan in 2017.

Dr. Christos Triantopoulos

Dr Christos Triantopoulos is the Deputy Minister to the Prime Minister for State Aid and Natural Disaster Recovery. He studied Economics in the University of Crete and he completed his Master Degree in European and International Studies at the University of Athens. He holds a PhD in Comparative Political Economy (Athens University of Economics and Business), and he completed a part of his studies in the London School of Economics, with scholarship. From 2014 to 2019 he was a Research Fellow at the Centre of Planning and Economic Research, specialized on financial system supervision and regulation. During his research activity, he published numerous reports and papers in scientific journals and he contributed to Greek and foreign collective works. He taught economics and fiscal policy in the University of Thessaly, the Technological Educational Institute of Peloponnese and the National School of Public Administration and Local Government. Moreover, he was employed as Scientific Associate for Economic Affairs in the Hellenic Parliament and the Hellenic Fiscal Council, Advisor in the General Accounting Office of the Ministry of Finance, and in the Ministry of Economy, Infrastructure, Shipping and Tourism. From 2019 to 2021 he served as General Secretary of Economic Policy in the Ministry of Finance.
